CELESTIA CARES
They involve collaborations with like-minded partners such as Sungai Watch to clean rivers, donations of books to children on Moyo Island and a steadfast commitment to ocean and environmental conservation while aboard Celestia. This commitment extends to using reef-safe amenities on board, reducing the use of single use plastics, regular beach cleanups and more.
Our Programs
More than 80% of plastic pollution in the ocean originates from rivers and streams. Together, Celestia and Sungai Watch, a certified One Percent for the Planet Environmental Partner have installed a new river trash barrier as part of our expanding green initiatives. This barrier will prevent trash from reaching the ocean and will be cleaned daily by the dedicated Sungai Watch team. The work doesn't stop there—each piece of trash collected will be sorted into over 30 material categories for recycling, with the data gathered to better understand plastic pollution.
About Sungai Watch: Sungai Watch is a Bali-based environmental organization with a mission to protect and restore our world’s rivers by developing and designing simple technologies to stop the flow of plastic pollution from going into the ocean.
At Celestia, sustainability is at the heart of our voyages through Indonesia's Coral Triangle. Alongside our crew, we actively organize beach clean-ups as avital part of our commitment to preserving the natural beauty of our destinations. Guests are warmly encouraged to participate in these initiatives, where the location varies based on the season's voyage destinations. Whether it's Padar Island, the breathtaking Raja Ampat in West Papua, or the historically rich Spice Islands, now known as the Maluku Islands, every clean-up effort is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
Celestia is dedicated to creating a single-use plastic-free environment onboard and at our destinations. Upon arrival, our guests receive eco-friendly water bottles that they can refill throughout their voyage and beyond. This initiative not only supports sustainable practices onboard Celestia, but also minimizes our environmental footprint at every stop along our journey. Together, we strive to promote responsible tourism and protect the natural wonders of Indonesia’s Coral Triangle for future generations to enjoy.
